Police File FIR Against Seven After ‘I Love Muhammad’ Posters Found Inside Sambhal Mosque

Authorities in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district have filed an FIR against seven people after posters reading “I Love Muhammad” were found inside a mosque in Kaserua village, under the Nakhasa police station limits.

According to local media reports, police said the posters were recovered during administrative action linked to the sealing of the premises. Sambhal police officials said an investigation is underway to determine who placed the posters and whether the material could disturb public order. Authorities have urged residents to maintain peace as the issue is considered religiously sensitive.

The case comes amid heightened tension in Sambhal following official action against religious structures allegedly built on public land. In a separate development cited in local reports, district authorities demolished a dargah in Baghaun village of Gunnour tehsil after revenue officials declared it an illegal encroachment on government land. Officials said the demolition followed legal proceedings and was part of a broader drive to reclaim encroached public land.

The shrine’s caretaker reportedly disputed the administration’s claim, saying the site was centuries old and dedicated to a revered saint.

Authorities maintain that such actions are being carried out according to legal procedures and court orders. However, the incidents have increased sensitivities in the region, highlighting continuing disputes over religious sites, public land, and law enforcement measures in Uttar Pradesh.
