Egypt’s Parliamentary Elections Begin

The first phase of Egypt’s parliamentary elections began with polling stations opening across 14 provinces.

According to Middle East News, voting started at 9 a.m. local time in a calm and orderly atmosphere.

Russia Today reported that 1,281 candidates, running individually or as part of the “National List for Egypt” coalition, are competing in two electoral regions.

The elections are being held under judicial supervision and monitored by media outlets and civil society organizations.
