Bahrain Blocks Friday Prayers in Duraz for 11th Consecutive Month
…………….
Bahraini media reported on Saturday that authorities have continued to prevent the central Friday prayers at Imam al-Sadiq Mosque in the village of Duraz, marking the 11th consecutive month of restrictions. Security forces from the Interior Ministry were heavily deployed around the mosque on September 26, backed by military vehicles and armed units, amid concerns over potential demonstrations.
Several areas across Bahrain witnessed protests condemning the ban, with participants denouncing what they described as sectarian discrimination and restrictions on religious freedoms. Demonstrators also called for the release of political prisoners and an end to security crackdowns. The prayer ban, first imposed on October 4, 2024, has been criticized by local and international rights groups as a violation of freedom of worship.
