————————
A Bahraini court has sentenced four teenagers from the village of Karana to two years in prison for participating in peaceful protests, Shia Waves Persian reported. This sentence, when combined with three previous convictions, brings the total prison term for each child to four years.
According to the Shia Waves Agency, citing Human Rights Watch, the teenagers were identified as Hussein Ali Hassan Mahdi (16), Ali Hussein Nasser al-Matrouk (16), Abdulaziz Hussein Jaafar al-Hammadi (15), and Abbas Muslim Abdul Ali (17).
Human rights experts have condemned the ruling as a clear violation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which prohibits the imprisonment of individuals under the age of 18 for exercising their right to freedom of expression.
