Afghanistan–Pakistan Tensions Enter Third Week Amid Security, Humanitarian Concerns
———————————
Military tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have entered a third consecutive week, with clashes continuing at varying intensity and raising concerns over growing humanitarian and security risks in the region.

Pakistan has announced a military operation named “Wrath of Truth,” while the Taliban authorities have responded with a counter-operation called “Repelling Injustice,” signaling an escalation in hostilities between the two sides.

According to field reports, the fighting has involved airstrikes, drone operations, and attacks on locations believed to be military targets. However, there are increasing indications that infrastructure and multiple areas inside Afghan territory have been affected.

Officials in Islamabad say the operations are aimed at militants linked to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). However, developments on the ground suggest a broader escalation that may also involve sites associated with Afghan Taliban forces, complicating the security situation between the two countries.

Observers say the clashes reflect mutual pressure. Pakistan appears to be seeking to influence Taliban policies, particularly regarding security and regional relations, while authorities in Kabul are attempting to maintain political independence.

The conflict is also viewed within a wider context of regional and international competition, amid shifting power dynamics in South Asia.

On the humanitarian front, the clashes are raising concerns about worsening conditions for civilians, especially in border areas where resources are limited and aid delivery remains difficult.
