Taliban Bans Women From Visiting Male Dentists in Kandahar

The Taliban has imposed a new restriction in Kandahar province, barring women from receiving dental treatment from male dentists. Local sources reported on Thursday that women were removed from clinics following orders instructing dental practices not to treat female patients. The measure adds to a series of restrictions introduced since the Taliban regained power in August 2021.

Recent bans have included prohibiting women from composing poetry deemed “bold,” suspending girls’ education at secondary schools, universities, and religious institutions, and blocking female employment in public offices and aid organizations. The group has also closed parks, gyms, and women’s sports teams, while limiting internet access in several provinces.
