Japan Donates $2.5 Million to Support Afghan Children

UNICEF announced that the Japanese government has donated $2.5 million to assist vulnerable children in Afghanistan affected by natural disasters and ongoing crises, Khaama Press reported. This funding aims to provide essential services to those in need, particularly focusing on children, who are among the most vulnerable populations in the region.

According to a UNICEF press release, millions of Afghans, especially children, lack access to clean drinking water, leading to widespread outbreaks of waterborne diseases such as diarrhea. The aid will enhance public awareness programs to prevent diseases, improve healthcare access, and support health and hygiene education.

Additionally, the project will target at-risk children and women, addressing critical needs and protecting them from exploitation and abuse. Japan has a history of contributing to similar initiatives, demonstrating a strong international commitment to humanitarian relief in Afghanistan. This collaboration highlights the importance of global partnerships in addressing the ongoing crisis.
