In the coming days, the Iranian capital, Tehran, is preparing to hoist the largest banner of mourning to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, as part of a ceremony under the slogan “Peace be upon Muharram.”
The banner measures an area of 1056 square meters with dimensions of 44 and 24 meters and a height of 200 meters on which the phrase “Ya Hussein” is inscribed. It will be raised in the Taleqani Garden in Tehran.
Ceremonies like previous years will also be held, coinciding with the commencement of mourning on the occasion of Ashura in Tehran and other Iranian cities.
This massive banner will be hoisted this Thursday, August 20, in a ceremony attended by official, media and popular figures.
