A spokesman for Nangarhar state, Ata Allah Hogiani, said in a statement to the press, that clashes erupted between police forces and Taliban militants after an attack on a police station in the city of Hasarak.
Hogiani confirmed that three policemen were killed and one other wounded during the clashes, while 16 Taliban militants were killed and 9 others wounded.
The Taliban has not yet commented on the clashes.
