About 2.5 million pilgrims have come to the holy sites for the annual hajj pilgrimage, the Saudi Statistical Organization announced on Saturday.

The number of pilgrims reached 2,489,406, 185,527 of which were from outside the Kingdom, the authority said in the official statement.

The number of male pilgrims from inside and outside the Kingdom amounted to 1,385,234, and the number of female pilgrims stood at 1,104,172.

Comparing the total number of pilgrims for this year 1440 AH with the number of pilgrims last year 1439 AH, it is clear that the number of pilgrims this year increased by 117,731.
