UAE to deport 70 Shia Lebanese

Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil confirmed that the UAE had decided to deport 70 Lebanese Shia individuals

 

Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil confirmed that the UAE had decided to deport 70 Lebanese Shia individuals.

 Bassil wrote in a tweet that they have been informed by the Lebanese Embassy in Dubai that UAE authorities decided to deport 70 Lebanese in the next 24 hours.

According to reports, the expulsions were deliberately targeting Shiites as part of an ongoing policy of discrimination targeting Lebanese Shiites in the country.

Dozens of Lebanese Shiites who had lived in the UAE for years were expelled in 2009.

In 2013, Qatar also expelled 18 Lebanese citizens after the Gulf Cooperation Council ‘s decision.
