Bahraini Al-Wasat newspaper said that the Bahraini authorities refused to give baby Sayed Ali Qassim Majeed (6 months old) a Bahraini citizenship, because his father’s nationality was revoked.
The newspaper stressed that, Sayed Ali, who is still an infant, does not have any identification card or travel document, although he lives in his home country Bahrain.
According to the local paper, the infant’s mother had tried before his birth, and throughout the past six months, to issue any kind of identification paper to manage his affairs in Bahrain. However, her request to issue a passport or any identification document was denied each time.
His mother, Balqis Al-Manami, who happens to be a lawyer, said that now her movement and actions are restricted, since she cannot travel without him, and since the authorities are not providing her with a passport for her son, they are therefore indirectly imposing a travel ban on her.
