The United Arab Emirates has decided to deport more than twenty Shia Lebanese nationals from its country, giving them only 48 hours to leave, sources disclosed to Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil confirmed.
All twenty individuals are members of the Awada family, many from Marjayoun’s al-Khiyam town, including one family from Baalbek.
According to Assafir Daily, nearly one thousand Lebanese expatriates have been deported from the UAE since 2009. The majority of deportees shared the same faith and came from Lebanon’s southern region.
