Activists on social media said that a black 4×4 vehicle opened fire at Al-Marzouq Hussainia hall in Wadyan village in the island of Sitra.
The photos circulated on social media outlets show the damage caused to the windows of the Hussainiya which the bullets penetrated. The reasons behind the attack are not clear yet. Social media activists; however, said that the driver was one of the members of the ruling Al Khalifa family called Khalid Al Khalifa who is in his fifties and has previously attacked the Al-Hamla Obsequies building. The developments also come as there has been a wave of extensive arrests in Bahrain in the wake of protests in condemnation of the execution of 47 people in Saudi Arabia including prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.
It’s noteworthy that several Shia religious gatherings and centers have come under attack in Bahrain and neighboring Saudi Arabia in recent months.
