Holy Shrines in Karbala Mark Martyrdom Anniversary of Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him)

A solemn atmosphere of mourning enveloped the holy shrines of Imam Husayn and his brother Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them both) in Karbala on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Muhammad ibn Ali al-Baqir (peace be upon them both). Black banners and memorial signs bearing the Imam’s name adorned the shrines, commemorating his martyrdom and recalling his suffering.
The Imam Husayn and al-Abbas shrines announced continuous mourning programs, including religious lectures and elegiac recitations highlighting Imam al-Baqir’s (peace be upon him) life, the injustices he faced under oppressive rulers, and his pivotal role in preserving and spreading the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) after the tragedy of Karbala, alongside his father, Imam Zain al-Abidin (peace be upon him).
Mourning gatherings are also held in husayniyas and mosques both within Iraq and internationally, allowing devotees to honor the fifth Imam of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). The commemorations, observed on the 7th of Dhu al-Hijjah, reflect the faithful’s reverence, devotion, and commitment to upholding the principles and sacrifices of Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) in safeguarding the authentic message of Islam.
