Grand Ayatollah Shirazi remarks on importance of patience for guiding people
The daily scholarly meeting of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadegh al-Hosseini al-Shirazi was held on Sunday, the 10th of Jumadi al-Thani. In this session, just like the previous meetings, the Marja answered the questions of the attendees about various jurisprudence issues.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi discussed the necessity of guiding the ignorant, and said: Guiding the ignorant is a sufficiency obligation for all believers, and everyone should strive within their capacity for this matter.
His Eminence continued: It is necessary for a person to use all their efforts for guiding such people, and certainly, one’s efforts will gradually bring forth results and lead to the guidance of such people, so leaving these people to their own resources is not a recommendable recourse.
The supreme Marja also emphasized: Guiding ignorant people is a sufficiency obligatory, and the manners of guidance also depends on individual circumstances. Sometimes it is necessary to take quick actions, and sometimes we should act slowly, gradually and patiently towards guidance of people.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi pointed out the necessity of exercising patience and forbearance in guiding people and said: Humans are not equal in terms of receiving guidance, but it is necessary for us to do our best to guide them, because some people are guided quickly, but others are guided slowly. So, don’t be disappointed in the guidance of people, because most of the people are guided eventually; some today, and others a year from now and it is possible some will be guided after two years or even more. This is exactly what happened with the Messenger of God, peace be upon him and his pure family, when he made efforts to guide the Ummah.
