Myanmar: Junta fires shell on civilians killing 3, including child, in Mandalay region

Junta troops fired a shell at Mandalay division’s Tha Hpan Kaing village on Wednesday night, killing two women and an 8-year-old child, RFA reported on Thursday, adding two others were also injured.

Ten soldiers entered Madaya township from a neighboring township on a truck and fired 120-millimeter shells at the village, locals confirmed.

From Jan. 2022 to Sept. 2023, RFA found that 816 civilians have died and 1,628 were injured by heavy weapons and airstrikes across the country.

Myanmar (formerly Burma) is a Southeast Asian nation of more than 100 ethnic groups.
