Pakistan: suicide bomber kills 44, injures nearly 200 at political rally

A suicide bombing killed at least 44 people and wounded nearly 200 on Sunday at a political gathering of conservative Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) party in northwestern Pakistan, according to officials.

Abdul Rasheed, the regional chief of the party, said the attack was an attempt to remove JUI-F from the field before parliamentary elections in November.

Many officials including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have strongly condemned the incident and extended condolences to the families of the victims.

It should be mentioned that initial investigations blame the terrorist group ISIS for this incident.
