Young children mourn Hazrat Ali Asghar in Pakistan
In several countries, including Pakistan, a day of mourning (Yom-e-Azadari) was observed to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali Asghar, peace be upon him, in a unique mourning that brings together infants dressed as mourners.
This distinctive form of mourning has been observed globally on the same day and at the same time for the past twenty-one years.
On the first Friday of Muharram-ul-Haram, this gathering of young children dressed as mourners draws attention worldwide due to its uniqueness.
The mothers of these young children prepare them to support Imam Mahdi, may Allah bring forward his reappearance.
These mothers bring their young children dressed in the attire associated with Hazrat Ali Asghar, peace be upon him, to the mourning and pledge that their child will become a soldier of Imam Mahdi, peace be upon him, at the time of his emergence.
In Pakistan, more than 500 locations held these mourning ceremonies for the martyred infant of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, with the main ceremony held in Islamabad, the capital city, where hundreds of mothers accompanied their young children to participate in the mourning.
Similar mourning programs took place in Karachi at the Imambargah Shaheed Karbala Ancholi Society and other central Imambargahs. Additionally, more than ten locations in interior Sindh, including Sukkur, Hyderabad, Badin, and Jacobabad, held mourning ceremonies.
