Heavy rainfall kills over 26, injures 9 others in South Korea
Torrential rains have left 26 people dead and 9 injured and forced thousands to flee their homes in South Korea, news agencies reported.
Local officials confirmed in statements on Saturday July 15 that the downpour caused landslides and flash floods.
According to the Ministry of Interior and Safety, ten other people remain missing; adding that public roads, houses and farm fields have also been destroyed the destructive floods.
The Ministery confirmed today Sunday that more 5, 566 people were forced to evacuate their homes to seek shelter.
It should be mentioned that climatologists voiced their concerns over the increasing frequency and intensity of heavy rainfall across East Asia due to human-caused climate crisis.
