The holy shrines in Iraq and other countries have been adorned with mourning banners and signs of condolence to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her), the daughter of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), according to the first narration of her martyrdom, which places the event forty days after the passing of the Holy Prophet.
In the holy city of Najaf, the shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) witnessed an atmosphere of grief and mourning as preparations were completed for commemorative programs marking the anniversary. According to the Shia Waves Agency correspondent in Najaf, the holy shrine was decorated with black banners and mourning signs bearing the name of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her).
The mourning arrangements extended to the holy city of Karbala, where the shrines of Imam Hussein and Abal-Fazl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) prepared special programs and activities to honor the memory of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her).
Similar commemorations are being held by Muslims around the world, particularly at holy shrines, Hussainiyas and Islamic centers in Iraq, Iran, Syria and other countries, featuring mourning gatherings, religious lectures and devotional programs.
Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi also called on Muslims, especially followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), to preserve and revive the Fatimid legacy, emphasizing the importance of commemorating the rituals and teachings associated with Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her).
