The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced on Monday that children in the Horn of Africa are living in an unprecedented crisis of hunger, displacement, lack of water and insecurity.
The international Organization’s statement adds, more than seven million children under the age of five in this region are malnourished and need urgent nutrition assistance, while more than 1.9 million boys and girls are at risk of dying from severe malnutrition.
“The crisis in the Horn of Africa has been devastating for children” said Mohamed Fall, UNICEF Regional Director for East and Southern Africa.
