Shia Rights Watch denounces Taliban’s ban on Ja’fari Fiqh to be taught at universities
Shia Rights Watch (SRW), an international human rights organization, confirmed that the banning of the Taliban movement the teaching of Jaafari jurisprudence in Afghan universities is a real setback for the project to rebuild the country on the basis of mutual understanding.
The organization said in a statement, received by Shia Waves Agency: “The Shura Presidency of the Ministry of Higher Education run by Taliban rejected the request submitted by the Council of Shia Scholars in Afghanistan to re-include the Jaafari jurisprudence in university curricula.”
SRW organization continued, “The position of the de facto authorities in Afghanistan is a setback for the project to rebuild the country on the basis of understanding, and a flagrant breach of what the movement’s leaders pledged to in the media, during the meetings with representatives of the Shias.”
The organization denounced this arbitrary decision, considering it “a deliberate ignorance of the real Afghan problem represented in the marginalization of minorities under flimsy pretexts,” warning that this matter “aggravates the country’s crises.”
The organization called on the Taliban authorities to “reconsider their policies, reverse their arbitrary decisions, and abide by their internal and international commitments. We also call on all parties concerned with Afghan affairs to shoulder their responsibility in preventing the deterioration of the situation in that country in order to preserve international security and stability.”
