Fascinated Taiwanese book restorer mends 500-year-old Quran
Hsu Mei-wen, a book restorer at Taiwan Book Hospital of National Taiwan Library, was entrusted with the task of restoring a 500-year-old handwritten version of the Quran, which had been seriously damaged by insects as well.
Absorbed by the teachings and lessons of the ancient religious scripture, Hsu worked diligently for many months to complete the task, spending as much as half a day to repair a single page.
She expects to finish the task by the end of April, with the book’s cover and binding yet to be completed.
