The al-Abbas Combat Brigade said in a statement that its forces, along with the Third Armored Brigade used heavy fire in the early hours of Sunday to repulse the attack, the Baghdad Today daily reported.
It said the attack was launched by the terrorists from Ramadi desert area with the aim of capturing al-Nukhayb area.
The statement added that the terrorists’ movements were monitored by thermal cameras and any future attack by the terrorist group will be met with a crushing response.
