Swords from different historical periods displayed at Al-Kafeel Museum
The Al-Kafeel Museum of Treasures and Manuscripts includes many items gifted to the Holy Shrine of Aba Al-Fadhl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him), including swords that belong to different historical eras.
Museum curator, Sadiq Lazim, said, “We learned about the style of the historical swords as a result of the presence of some defining records, or the names of some sultans and important personalities, such as some famous craftsmen.”
Lazim showed the possibility of identifying the historical period of the sword by the type of handle, or the shape or material from which it is made, all of which are indications of the historical period of the sword, in addition to the presence of the seal stamp that indicates the owner of the sword in some cases.
According to Lazim, the Al-Kafeel Museum is famous for having the best types of swords, whether in terms of manufacture or the metal used, as some of them are coated with gold.
