Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization displays rare Quranic manuscripts

Today, Tuesday, the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization in the UAE revealed 50 rare Quranic manuscripts dating back to 14 centuries, and they are being displayed for the first time.

 The daily newspaper ‘The National News’ said: “The displayed manuscripts are part of the (Hamid Jaafar) Qur’anic collection, and it includes copies of the Qur’an in Islamic calligraphy, collected from China to North Africa.”

 The newspaper, which was followed by Shia Waves Agency, pointed out that “the Qur’anic manuscripts reflected the aesthetics of the Arabic calligraphy of the holy verses, while presenting the nuances and unique aesthetic considerations in the works that were strongly influenced by the sites that were copied from several craftsmen.”

 The owner of the manuscripts, Hamed Jaafar, said in his statement to the newspaper: “I am very proud of collecting these Qur’anic masterpieces for more than 40 years, and they are displayed for the first time in the Sharjah Museum.”
