President of Tajikistan: Afghanistan is on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe


The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon considered that Afghanistan is on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe, warning of mass starvation with the onset of the cold season.
“Afghanistan today is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe, and with the onset of the cold wave, the situation could deteriorate and lead to mass starvation,” Rahmon said, in a speech he delivered during the 15th summit of the heads of state of the Economic Cooperation Organization in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat.
He stressed the need to provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people through United Nations agencies and international humanitarian organizations.
The Tajik president stressed the need to form a government that truly includes all parts of society in Afghanistan to solve the problems facing the country.
