On International Children’s Day, human rights demands for the immediate and unconditional release of children detained in Bahrain’s prisons

In conjunction with International Children’s Day, Bahraini human rights organizations announced a number of demands regarding children in Bahrain, including ensuring that children have access to social security.
In a joint statement, the organizations demanded the immediate and unconditional release of children detained in the prisons of the Bahraini regime.
In its statement, they called on human rights organizations to harmonize criminal and other legislation with Article 4 of the (Bahraini) Child Law, stop targeting children and allow them to complete their studies and practice their rights stipulated in international covenants, as well as abide by their commitments to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its protocols.
Human rights organizations stressed the need to grant citizenship to every Bahraini child whose citizenship was withdrawn, and to compensate him for every right he was deprived of when he was stateless.
The organizations emphasized ensuring that children have access to social security and that they receive an adequate amount of cash and social assistance.
