Public anger in India over TV series deliberately offending Shia feelings

All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB) has sent a legal notice to US entertainment company Netflix and producers of “A Suitable Boy” web series for intentionally harming Shia religious sentiments by demonstrating the desecration of a replica of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine in one of the episodes.
The board of directors demanded the producers to remove the scene from the web series and issue a public apology to the Shias.
The objection recorded by the Board was in episode 4 of the first season, specifically at minute 43:30, where the replica of the shrine appears on the ground.
The Board confirmed that it would “send a copy of the notification by mail to Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, and Union Information Minister Anurag Thakur, to look into this clear encroachment on Shias and their sanctities.”
