Iraqi National Security thwarts plot to target Arbaeen pilgrims in Baghdad

The Iraqi National Security announced the thwarting of a terrorist plot to target the Arbaeen pilgrims in Baghdad, and the confiscation of 4 explosive belts that were prepared for detonation in Diyala province.
A National Security statement stated, “In compliance with the directives of the head of the National Security to intensify the intelligence effort to secure the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, a team of security personnel received intelligence information about a terrorist group attempting to detonate bombs on the pilgrims. Our team were able to thwart their plot and confiscate the explosives.”
