Taliban terrorists control the capitals of five Afghan states

The Taliban terrorist movement is now in control of five capitals of the 34 Afghan provinces after capturing three of them the previous day, including the city of Kunduz, in a major attack that the army seems unable to stop.
After fierce fighting, the rebels captured Kunduz, which they had besieged for a few weeks, and then took Sari Pul and Talqan, the capitals of the two provinces in the south and east of Kunduz.
Zabihullah Hamidi, a resident of Takhar province’s capital, Talqan, told AFP that the violence started in the morning and the Taliban ended up taking control of the city “without much fighting”, and that officials and security forces fled the city.
A security official confirmed that Afghan forces and local leaders had fled to a nearby area.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the movement’s control of Talqan, referring to the “return of security” to it and to Kunduz and Sari Pul, which fell to the movement in the morning.
An AFP correspondent in Kunduz noted that the Taliban had taken control of all the main buildings in the city.
This city of about 300,000 people, which was occupied twice by the rebels in recent years, in 2015 and 2016, is a strategic crossroads in northern Afghanistan between Kabul and Tajikistan.
