Afghanistan announces the killing of 455 Taliban militants within 24 hours
The Afghan Ministry of Defense announced that 455 Taliban terrorists were killed and 232 others were wounded in security operations in several states during the last 24 hours.
The ministry said, in a tweet on Twitter, “Extensive operations of the security forces in several states resulted in the killing of 455 Taliban terrorists and the injury of 232 others.”
It explained that the states that witnessed the security operations are “Nangarhar, Paktia, Paktika, Logar, Kandahar, Herat, Faryab, Jowzjan, Balkh, Samangan, Helmand, Takhar, Kunduz, Baghlan and Kapiza.”
Violence has escalated across Afghanistan since the beginning of May, when the Taliban launched a large-scale attack coinciding with the start of the final withdrawal of foreign forces led by the United States, which has become almost complete.
The movement’s elements took control of dozens of areas, including within the province of Herat, where they took control of two border crossings with Iran and Turkmenistan.
