Rights groups express concern about the execution of 12 Bahraini detainees on false charges
Death sentences against 12 Bahraini citizens imprisoned in the regime’s prisons received wide reactions, especially after the execution decision became dependent on King Hamad bin Isa.
Rights groups expressed their deep concern about the execution of twelve detainees on false accusations, indicating that the goal of implementing the death sentences comes due to the political bankruptcy of the regime in the process of suppressing the voices demanding rights and freedoms.
The groups called for a wide campaign on social media to stop the executions, warning of its serious and wide repercussions at the human rights level inside and outside Bahrain, warning against implementing the unjust ruling against opposition activists, calling on the international community and human rights organizations to intervene urgently to prevent the commission of an additional crime against the Bahraini people.
The Bahrain Forum for Human Rights described the death sentences as invalid and illegal, and were issued based on confessions extracted under torture.
For his part, the head of the forum, Baqir Darwish, stressed that judicial decisions are politicized and violate international standards for fair trials. He called for stopping death sentences, canceling all sentences issued against prisoners of conscience, and keeping the judiciary away from political exploitation and adhering to international standards.
