Annaba Media Institute, affiliated with the Karbala office of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi, held a conference in the city to discuss the role of modern media platforms and their influence on the Iraqi society. The conference hosted academics, legal experts, and journalists.
Kamal Abeed, the Annaba chief editor offered his paper on the subject at this conference. He mentioned some positive and negative points about the modern media outlets and stated “The term modern media was firstly coined Marshall McLuhan in 1953. He tried to elaborate on the impacts of electronic data and the web network of information transmission, which are now more sensible with the emergence of TV and internet. There are many definitions proposed to the term modern media, which all point to qualities such as freedom, speed, and inclusionary aspects of this media.”
