French Senator: The Anti-separatism Law is an attack on Muslims

French Senator Esther Benbassa confirmed that the anti-separatism bill under discussion in the Senate is a violent attack against Muslims.
Benbassa said in a television statement, that the Republican Right Party is trying to mobilize the votes of the extreme right by enacting such laws that attack Muslims, in preparation for the presidential elections scheduled for 2022.
She explained that what Muslims are subjected to in terms of exclusion is not completely different from what the Jews were subjected to in the past, noting that the West did not recognize the true face of Islam by its tolerance and acceptance of the other.
On Friday afternoon, the French Senate adopted the addition of an article to the controversial “anti-separatism” bill, according to which the issuance or renewal of residence permits to foreigners who expressly oppose “the principles of the republic.”
According to the new clause, the residence permit will not be issued or renewed to foreigners who live in France and who profess to reject the principles of the Republic.
