Dead and wounded civilians in violence in Afghanistan
Five people were killed in an armed attack and an explosion in the Afghan capital, Kabul, while the Afghan Ministry of Defense announced the killing of 31 Taliban terrorists in an air strike by the Afghan air force in the Panjway district of Kandahar province, south of the country.
The Afghan Interior Ministry said that an armed attack took place this morning, Tuesday, in the Khushhal Khan district in the center of the capital, Kabul, which resulted in the killing of an official in the local government in the Maidan Wardak region, adjacent to the capital, named Riad Ahmed.
According to the Interior Ministry statement, the attack also resulted in the killing and wounding of four others.
Meanwhile, two people were killed and a third wounded as a result of the explosion of a sticky bomb targeting a civilian car in the Kambani district on the outskirts of the capital, Kabul.
A security source said that the IED device targeted a civilian car this morning, killing two and wounding a third.
No party has so far claimed responsibility for the attack and the two explosions.
The Afghan Ministry of Defense announced, in a brief statement, the killing of 31 Taliban terrorists as a result of bombing by Afghan air force warplanes in the Panjway district of Kandahar province, south of the country.
The statement added that the shelling also wounded a number of the movement’s elements and destroyed their hideouts.
The Taliban has yet to comment on the ministry’s announcement.
