Human rights organization denounces the Saudi arrest campaigns against Shia citizens
Shia Rights Watch expressed its strong condemnation of the arrest campaign implemented by the Saudi authorities targeting Shia citizens, calling for the necessity to stop these violations and release all those detained on the sectarian and political background.
The organization stated in a statement, “A few days ago, the Saudi security services arrested Sheikh Hussein al-Nimr in the Qatif region, east of the country, as part of a series of ongoing arrests and raids against members of the Shia community.
The organization added that the procedures of the Saudi authority are a flagrant violation and disregard for the sanctity of citizens and Islamic and legal human rights laws, in addition to what this represents in terms of psychological and material harm to detainees and their families alike.
The organization pointed out that the Saudi authorities insist on a policy of sectarian oppression and tyranny against Shia citizens in Qatif, which calls for intervention by human rights organizations to reduce these violations.
