Bahrain arrests Shia cleric on charges of praying in congregation

The Bahraini authorities arrested the Shia cleric Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Sadadi on charges of praying in congregation at his home.
Bahraini sources said that Sheikh Al-Saddi was arrested on charges of praying in congregation at his home, despite the fact that the number of worshipers is less than 5 people.
The sources added that this arrest comes within the framework of the authority’s policies of systematic sectarian targeting of Bahrainis, as well as within the framework of the policies of discrimination, and it is noteworthy that the British residing in Bahrain held a celebration in Manama to light the Christmas tree, a tradition that begins four weeks before Christmas.
Videos circulated on social media showed the participation of a large number of British members of the embassy and residents of Bahrain, in the celebration, in clear violation of the rules of social distancing in force in Bahrain, due to the Corona pandemic.
However, the Bahraini authorities are afraid of applying these laws to the British who hold such celebrations, but they are ready to arrest when it comes to holding a legally permitted prayer.
