Exhibition introducing Islamic art in Brunei

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in Brunei organized an exhibition on Islamic art and calligraphy, in conjunction with the International Day of Islamic Art, at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Arts Calligraphy Centre yesterday.
The ministry had established the Center for Islamic Studies and Arts in March 2020, with the aim of introducing and developing Islamic art in the Asian country.
Among the most important activities of the center are education in the field of Islamic calligraphy and arts, as well as sponsoring and developing artistic competencies.
Last November, the center received many university students, as they learned about Islamic arts and urged them to practice Islamic arts, including calligraphy, Quran gilding, and other Islamic decorative arts.
In recent years, Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has made great efforts to promote the teachings and application of Islamic law in the country, as more than two-thirds of Brunei’s population are Muslims.
