United Nations warns Yemenis of major catastrophe

The United Nations has warned that millions of Yemeni men, women and children are at risk of catastrophic famine.
The head of the World Food Program, David Beasley, told the Security Council, “We are now in a countdown to a disaster. We reached that before, and we rang the alarm then.”
He added, “If we choose to turn a blind eye, I have no doubt that Yemen will plummet into devastating famine within a few months.”
The United Nations aid official, Mark Lowcock, had warned in late 2017 that Yemen would face “the largest famine in the world in many decades, with millions of victims.”
