Over 550,000 pilgrims arrive in Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2025

As of May 18, a total of 554,579 pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia for Haj 1446 AH (2025), according to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

Arrivals include 538,766 by land, 14,391 by air, and 1,422 by sea—representing 39% of total Haj visas issued this season. Pilgrims began arriving in Makkah and Madinah from April 29.

The Ministry of Interior also reported that over one million pilgrims have used the Makkah Route Initiative since its launch in 2017, which expedites pre-travel procedures across seven countries. Officials reiterated the importance of holding a valid Hajj permit.
