Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Caring for Muslims’ needs is a religious and social duty

The Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, has urged believers to prioritize the concerns and needs of fellow Muslims, emphasizing that such care should be as important as one’s own personal matters.

In a series of ideological, social, and political reflections published under “The Beacon of Knowledge,” he stressed that this concern must be genuine and deeply felt—becoming a personal responsibility rather than a superficial act.

The Grand Marja explained that such responsibility may vary in nature—sometimes falling on individuals and other times on the community as a whole—depending on the situation, highlighting that addressing collective matters such as peace, war, economy, politics, education, and public welfare takes precedence over personal affairs.

Citing the Prophet Muhammad and his Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), the Supreme Marja noted their dedication to the well-being of the Muslim Ummah, emphasizing that embodying these principles strengthens social solidarity and enables the Muslim community to overcome challenges and achieve justice and prosperity.
