Shia clerical delegation in Syria meets interim President Ahmad Al-Sharaa

A delegation from the Shia clerical body in Syria met with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa on Friday to discuss the community’s situation and future in the country.

According to a statement from the meeting, the delegation addressed challenges facing Syria’s Shiite population, including the return of displaced persons to villages such as Kafriya, Al-Fu’ah, Busra, and rural Homs. They also discussed the management of Shiite religious sites and endowments.

Al-Sharaa affirmed the community’s right to practice its religious rituals and stated that Shiite shrines would remain under the community’s administration. He also emphasized the importance of social integration and assured the inclusion of qualified Shiite individuals in future governments.

On security matters, the delegation discussed cooperation with authorities and mechanisms for handling individuals with legal issues.

The delegation included religious and social figures such as Adham Al-Khatib, Mohammad Bloua, Abbas Al-Hamoud, Hassan Amoura, and several others.
