Spain arrests 11 suspected TTP members in counter-terrorism operation

Spanish authorities have arrested 11 Pakistani nationals suspected of links to the banned militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Khaama Press reported. The arrests took place in Barcelona. According to Spanish officials, the suspects are accused of promoting extremist activities through encrypted communication platforms.

Authorities believe the group operated under a hierarchical structure, using instant messaging apps to spread ideology, recruit members, and identify potential targets across Europe. Reports also suggest that some women played key roles in radicalization efforts.

This operation is part of Spain’s broader counter-terrorism strategy, which has led to 30 arrests over the past three years. Ten of the latest suspects were detained in Barcelona and nearby areas, while one was arrested in Italy.
Meanwhile, the TTP has increased attacks in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Pakistani officials have linked the surge to sanctuaries in Afghanistan, accusing the Afghan Taliban of providing support. However, the Afghan Taliban deny these claims, as cross-border tensions continue to rise.
