UNICEF warns of dire consequences of Israel’s blockade on Gaza

The United Nations agency for children, UNICEF, has raised alarms over the life-threatening effects of Israel’s renewed blockade on the Gaza Strip, warning that Palestinian children could die as a result.
Following the expiration of a truce deal with Hamas on March 1, Israel cut off humanitarian supplies, including essential fuel and aid, exacerbating the already dire situation in Gaza.
UNICEF spokesperson Rosalia Bollen emphasized that the blockade not only halts critical aid but also disrupts the supply of fuel necessary for maintaining vital services, such as hospitals and desalination plants.
The blockade follows a ceasefire agreement that briefly allowed aid into Gaza, but Israel’s airstrikes resumed almost daily, with attacks on displaced Palestinians in Rafah on Saturday resulting in at least two deaths.
