Reports indicate that Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have killed over 200 civilians, including women and children, in attacks on villages in the southern region. According to The Hindustan Times, the attacks took place over three days in White Nile State, targeting villages with no military presence.
A war monitoring group reported that RSF forces carried out executions, abductions, and looting in the villages of Al-Kadris and Al-Khalwat. Some residents were shot while fleeing, while others drowned in the Nile River. Lawyers from the monitoring organization described the violence as “genocide.”
Sudan has been experiencing ongoing conflict since April 2023, when fighting erupted between the Sudanese army and the RSF. The war has killed tens of thousands and displaced over 12 million people, making it one of the worst humanitarian crises, according to the International Rescue Committee.
The situation has led to severe shortages of essential resources and widespread displacement. International organizations are calling for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian assistance to address the crisis.
