Baghdad witnessed significant progress as Malaysia’s chargé d’affaires, Mohamad Sha’er, held critical discussions with construction firm HSS and consultancy CHSS on major infrastructure projects in Iraq.
According to the Malaysian Embassy in Iraq, key initiatives include the “Baghdad Metro” and a high-speed rail line connecting Holy Najaf and Holy Karbala. The railway aims to streamline pilgrim transportation during the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage, attracting millions of visitors to the holy cities.
These transformative projects mark a milestone in Iraq’s infrastructure development and reflect strengthened ties between Malaysia and Iraq. Malaysian firms are set to provide technical expertise and engineering support.
The projects are expected to enhance transportation, boost religious tourism, and stimulate Iraq’s economy, drawing regional and global attention.
