Bangladesh to inaugurate 50 model mosques by January 2025
Mohammad Yunus, Senior Advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government, has announced that 50 model mosques will open by the end of January 2025 as part of a national initiative to promote Islamic values and spread messages of peace and tolerance, media outlets reported.
Khalid Hussain, Religious Affairs Advisor, emphasized Bangladesh’s role as a “land of the Quran,” where Quran memorization enhances the country’s global standing. He stated that the project underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening Islamic identity, with mosques serving as key centers for nurturing Quranic scholars.
The broader initiative involves constructing 564 model mosques and Islamic cultural centers across Bangladesh to foster religious unity and counter extremist influences. The model mosques aim to serve as hubs for promoting tolerance, moderation, and social cohesion, enhancing religious harmony and stability throughout the country.
