Iraqi inventor wins gold in Germany on eco-friendly skincare product
Jalal Abu Tuhin, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy at Karbala University, won a gold medal at the International Inventors and Innovators Forum in Nuremberg, Germany, held from October 26 to 28, 2024.
Abu Tuhin’s invention focuses on creating antioxidant and antibacterial compounds using environmentally safe green chemistry.
The compounds are derived from natural extracts like banana peels and willow bark and aim to treat acne, burns, and moisturize skin.
Abu Tuhin is currently working with pharmacies and laboratories in Baghdad to further develop the product and obtain approval from Iraq’s Ministry of Health for market release.
